What Most People Don't See
One thing I've learned since starting One Love Frenchies is that most people only see the puppies. They see the cute photos, the videos, the chunky little faces, and eventually the families bringing their new puppy home. What they don't see are all of the things that happen behind the scenes.
When I brought Sophie home, I wasn't planning to become a breeder overnight. I simply fell in love with the breed. The more I learned about French Bulldogs, the more I realized how much responsibility comes with breeding them correctly. Over the years, I've spent countless hours researching pedigrees, learning from mentors, studying health testing, and doing everything I can to improve my knowledge of this incredible breed.
Every breeding is planned carefully. Every litter is hoped for, prayed over, and anticipated long before puppies ever arrive. And the truth is, things don't always go as planned. Sometimes breedings don't take. Sometimes there are unexpected veterinary expenses. Sometimes there are sleepless nights spent monitoring a mother and her newborn puppies to make sure everyone is healthy and thriving. When puppies are born, life revolves around them. The laundry piles up. The coffee gets reheated three times before I finish it. My sleep schedule disappears for a while. My family helps wherever they can because those tiny babies depend on us completely during those first few weeks. And honestly, I wouldn't trade it. There is something incredibly special about watching a puppy grow from a tiny newborn into a confident little companion that's ready to join their forever family.
The puppies at One Love Frenchies aren't raised in a kennel. They're raised as part of our everyday lives. They hear the normal sounds of a busy home. They're handled daily, loved on constantly, and given every opportunity to grow into well-socialized companions. By the time they leave us, we've celebrated every milestone right alongside them. One of the biggest misconceptions about breeding is that it's all about puppies.
For me, it's really about people. It's about helping a family find the right fit. It's about answering texts months later when someone has a question. It's about receiving birthday photos years down the road and seeing a puppy we raised become someone's best friend. That's the part I love most.
French Bulldogs are a wonderful breed, but they're not the easiest breed to raise, own, or breed. They require commitment, education, and care. That's why I believe choosing a breeder should be about more than finding a puppy. It should be about finding someone who genuinely cares about the dogs they produce and the families they become part of. At One Love Frenchies, that's what I strive to do every single day.
Thank you for following our journey, supporting our program, and trusting us with such an important decision.
With love, Tami
